pomodoro timers

I need a timer to help guide my work and breaks. So far, the best one for iPhone is MultiTimer, but I want to detach myself from my phone.

Primary Setup Done

What to do when you can't sleep?

A cockroach woke me up early this morning. After I blasted it with Boric Acid and killed it, I figured I was too amped up to sleep, so I worked on the FreedomBox. Got it in its new chassis, a Miuzel layer case with power supply. It's connected to the net, my monitor, keyboard, and mouse.

My content is my own, and now I have a place to host it.

Bok Tong Go Round 4, I think.

Since this is the first time I blogged my attempt, this has got to be the 4th or 5th attempt. Much more successful, it was higher than expected, and had more flavor. I used 8 drops of stevia to balance the 50g of erythritol. I also mixed in 1 tablespoon of tapioca in a 2 table spoon slurry along with 1/2 teaspoon of baking powder well mixed in.

It had about 1-1/2 inches of loft with logs of tiny bubbles. It was sweeter than last week's batch, and more texture in the center.

I also brushed the pie tin with coconut oil and set it in the freezer for 5 minutes before pouring the batter. The cake didn't stick as badly and came out of the tin neary whole with just a few crumbs left behind instead of tearing as it did last weekend.

Next time I will try letting the batter proof in the pie tin.

Yikes! Lost Email, and Yet So Peaceful

I forgot to update my main domain hosting account and since they were also my domain name server, my inbound email had no where to go. After a week of no email, it was surprisingly peaceful. I've fixed the email problem, redirecting it to another account, and ruthlessly unsubscribing from lists to get down to the minimalist bare essentials. I forwarded the web domain to the Internet Archive until I decide whether to continue blogging there.

Replacing the 26 Year-Old Umbrella
Out with the old.

It's been 26 years since I bought this umbrella at a Staples or Office Depot in Northern Virginia. I can't say it's served me well. I only used it occasionally, but it's standard for East Coast living. Sitting in my car on many hot California summers, it tended to let enough water through to cover me in a misty drizzle in a moderate shower. For a cheap, umbrella, it never inverted in the wind, because I always took care to point it into gusts. Sunday, however, I noticed the missing ferrule and decided it was time for a new rain shield. I ordered one from Amazon and it arrived tonight. I'll give it a shakedown for tomorrow's commute..

In the the new.

Reuse, Repurpose, Recycle

My 3Gstore Remote 1-Outlet Power IP Switch arrived yesterday. I had to take up a used spot on my Verizon router. I almost ordered a network switch on Amazon, but noticed I have an unused Linksys WRT-54G. I hard-reset it, disabled the router and WiFi and now I have a 3 port hub.
