Telekhany
Telekhany is an urban settlement in Ivatsevichy Raion of the Brest Region in Belarus. Name spelling variants: Belarusian: Целяханы: Celjahany,Tsseljahany, sometimes Tselyakhani, Celjachani; Polish: Telechany; Russian: Телеханы: Telekhany, Telehany, Yiddish: טעלעכאן: Telekhan, Telechan, Telechon; other: Telekhani, Telekani.
Telekhany has about 4,500 inhabitants.[1]
It is situated in the Polesia region by the Oginski Canal.[2]
History
    
Before 1939 it was part of the Interwar Poland, the seat of Gmina Telechany, Powiat Kosówski, Polesie Voivodship.[3]
During World War II, the Jewish community was massacred by a cavalry detachment of SS in August 1941, according to the memoirs of Bogdan Mielnik, a Polish resident of Telekhany.[4][2][3][5]
