From Mediaeval Byzantine Greek παρηγοριά (parēgoriá), from Ancient Greek παρηγορία (parēgoría) with synizesis to -ιά (-iá)[1], from παρήγορος (parḗgoros), παρ- (par-) + the ancient stem ηγορ- of ἀγορά (agorá) with lengthening for the initial 〈α〉 + -ία (-ía)[2]
