From Proto-Semitic *ṭaḥan-. Cognate with Akkadian 𒁲𒂊𒉡𒌝 (ṭênum) and Arabic طَحَنَ‎ (ṭaḥana).

  1. to grind, to crush
  2. to talk incessantly
  3. (colloquial) to have sex.
    • Job 31:10, with translation of the American Standard Version:
      ‏תִּטְחַן לְאַחֵר אִשְׁתִּי; וְעָלֶיהָ יִכְרְעוּן אֲחֵרִין.‎‎
      titḥán ləaḥér iští; və'aléha yichrə'ún aḥerín.
      May my wife grind for another; And let others kneel down over her.
