Compare Aramaic עַמּוּדָא‎ (ʿammūḏā, “column”) and Arabic عَمُود‎ (ʿamūd, “column”).

עַמּוּד • (amúd) m (plural indefinite עַמּוּדִים‎, singular construct עַמּוּד־, plural construct עַמּוּדֵי־‎)

1. pillar, column, post
   • Exodus 26:32, with translation of the New International Version:

     ‏וְנָתַתָּה אֹתָהּ עַל־אַרְבָּעָה עַמּוּדֵי שִׁטִּים מְצֻפִּים זָהָב וָוֵיהֶם זָהָב עַל־אַרְבָּעָה אַדְנֵי־כָסֶף׃‎‎

     Hang it with gold hooks on four posts of acacia wood overlaid with gold and standing on four silver bases.

2. page (as of a book)

• In the sense of "page," עמוד generally refers to a page in a book but is sometimes used to reference things like web pages, for which the word דַּף‎ is also used.
