Perhaps related to the obsolete verb بخیدن‎, with the wrong meaning in the dictionaries due to misunderstanding in the meaning of Persian old texts. Cognate with Sanskrit सीव्यति (sīvyati, “to sew, darn, stitch”). (Can this(+) etymology be sourced?)
