Perhaps from Sanskrit *vr̥mra (globular fruit, walnut).[1] But compare Middle Armenian բռնչի (bṙnčʿi, Celtis), բռինչ (bṙinčʿ, fruit of Celtis), Old Georgian ბრინჯი (brinǯi, Celtis).
