بهرج

Arabic

Etymology

From Middle Persian equalling Persian بهره‎ (bahra, “profit, advantage, fortune, happiness, prosperity”), and denominal verb; less likely augmented from ب ه ر‎ (b-h-r) / بَهَرَ‎ (bahara, “to allure; to shine; to illuminate”); perhaps a Persian stem and this Arabic root mutually interfered semantically in either language.
