From Classical Syriac ܬܫܪܝܢ (tešrīn, autumn month), ultimately from Akkadian 𒌚𒇯 (tišritum), and cognate with Hebrew תִּשְׁרֵי (tišrei, Tishrei, the seventh month of the Hebrew lunisolar calendar).
