Apparently a Dravidian borrowing, compare Telugu మొగలి (mogali), Tamil முசலி (mucali) meaning apart from other things screw pine. Passed also into Jewish Babylonian Aramaic מוקלא‎ and Classical Syriac ܡܘܩܠܐ‎ (muqlā) already witnessed from the 5th century.
