Etymology
From สมุทร (sà-mùt, “sea”) + สาคร (sǎa-kɔɔn, “river”); literally "(city of) seas and rivers"; coined and given to the city by Rama IV (reigned 1851–1868); formerly known as สาครบุรี.[1]
