    Etymology

A simplified form of the ⟨☤⟩ caduceus, due to confusion in the United States between the caduceus and the ⟨⚕⟩ rod of Asclepius, which itself is the masculine equivalent of the serpent-and-bolw symbol ⟨🕏⟩ of the goddess Hygieia. The original astronomical symbol was Hygieia's snake and a star, approximately ⟨.svg.png.webp) ⟩.
