Translingual
Etymology
Created by Denis Moskowitz from the "five-fingered hand" symbol of the goddess Eris, a symbol found in modern Discordianism. Moskowitz rotated the originally horizontal symbol and added a cross-bar, ⟨
⟩, so that it would resemble a double lunate letter epsilon, the initial letter of 'Eris'. However, the Discordian community objected that this produced a "seven-fingered hand", and in response he removed the cross-bar.[1]
Synonyms
- (astrology, rare): ⯱
