ππΏπ
Hittite
Etymology
Kloekhorst proposes a reconstruction Proto-Indo-European *yΓ©w-on-, which he regards as a more archaic form of Proto-Indo-European *yΓ©wos (βbarleyβ). Compare Ancient Greek ΢Ριά (zeiΓ‘, βeinkorn wheatβ) and Sanskrit ΰ€―ΰ€΅ (yΓ‘va, βbarleyβ).
