Etymology 1

From Proto-Indo-European *-(e)ro-. Compare երկ-ար (erk-ar) from Proto-Indo-European *dweh₂-ro- (“long”). See also -իր (-ir), -որ (-or), -ուր (-ur).

  1. Found in several words. The function is not very clear.
    զարդ ― zard ― ornament, embellishment
    զարդարեմ ― zardarem ― to adorn
    մեծ ― mec ― great
    մեծարեմ ― mecarem ― to honor, to venerate
    արդ ― ard ― shape
    արդար ― ardar ― just
    մութ ― mutʿ ― dark
