  1. (causative suffix) Added to a verb (or extremely rarely to a noun) to form a verb with a meaning of let, make somebody do something.
    keres (“to search”) → kerestet (“to make someone search something/somebody”)
    bűn (“sin”) → büntet (“to punish”)
    Synonyms: -at/-et, -aszt/-eszt/-öszt, -jt/-ajt/-ejt, -ít, -dít, (obsolete in this sense) -t
