Etymology
Abbreviated from elinkeino-, liikenne- ja ympäristökeskus, which is joint regional office of three ministries, työ- ja elinkeinoministeriö (“Ministry of Employment and the Economy”), ympäristöministeriö (“Ministry of the Environment”) and liikenne- ja viestintäministeriö (“Ministry of Transport and Communications”).
