Proto-Finnic
Etymology
From earlier *nita- + *-odak, from Proto-Finno-Permic *ńida-, possibly borrowed from an Indo-European language (compare Sanskrit नह्यति (nahyati, “to tie, bind”)). Cognates include Proto-Samic *ńëδētēk, Erzya недямс (nedjams).
