Etymology
Back-formation from arányoz (“to arrange according to ratio)”). Created during the Hungarian language reform, which took place in the 18th–19th centuries.[1] The obsolete verb arányoz is from an unattested stem + -ány + -oz (noun suffix). Doublet of irány.
