    Etymology
    
From Proto-Albanian *daknā, from Proto-Indo-European *denḱ- (“to bite”). Cognate to Ancient Greek δάκνω (dáknō, “to bite”) and Old High German zanga (“tongs”). Gheg formation danë with secondarily rhotacized nasal.[1]
