Etymology

From Vulgar Latin *juglāre, syncopated form of Latin jugulāre, iugulāre, present active infinitive of jugulō, iugulō (“slay, slit throat”), with a nasal infix added later, or possibly through a Vulgar Latin intermediate root *junglāre < *jungulāre. Compare Aromanian giunglju, giungljari.
