kauko-
See also: Kauko
Finnish

    Etymology

From the stem *kauka, from Proto-Finnic *kauka-, likely borrowed from Proto-Germanic *hauhaz, from Proto-Indo-European *kewk-. Alternative theory suggests Proto-Finno-Ugric *kawka, ultimately from the same Indo-European root, but comparisons to possible cognates in other Uralic languages have been disputed. Cognate to Estonian kauge and Votic kauka.
