Etymology
melano- (“pigmented, darkened”) + helio- (“Sun, star”) + -phobia (“fear”). From black holes being collapsed stars. From black-colored creatures being highly pigmented living creatures, having a large amount of melanin. From Ancient Greek μέλας (mélas, “black, dark”)+ἥλιος (hḗlios, “the Sun”)+φόβος (phóbos, “fear”).
