    Naštěstí přes řeku vedl most. ― Fortunately, there was a bridge across the river.
  2. via (by way of; passing through)
    Jeli z New Yorku do Los Angeles přes Omahu. ― They drove from New York to Los Angeles via Omaha.
  3. despite, in spite of
    Přes výslovný zákaz vstoupil na pozemek. ― He entered the land despite it being explicitly forbidden.

Usage notes

Some uses of the English sense of "via" are translated into Czech without a preposition:

Do budovy můžete vstoupit západní branou. — You can enter the building via the western gate.
