rucka (present ruckar, preterite ruckade, supine ruckat, imperative rucka)

  1. (usually with på) to cause (something) to move (by pushing on it, often in a back and forth or similar motion, and often dislodging it from its ordinary or intended position)
    Han försökte rucka på stenarna i muren för att se om någon satt löst och dolde ett gömställe
    He tried to move the rocks in the wall to see if any of them was loose and concealed a hiding place
  2. (figuratively, usually with på) to compromise (principles, etc.), to budge
    rucka på sina principer
    compromise one's principles
    Han går inte att rucka på
    He can't be budged (won't change his mind)
