sacar lo mejor de

Spanish

Verb

sacar lo mejor de

  1. to make the best of
Tendremos que que sacar lo mejor de una mala situación. ― We'll have to make the best of a bad situation.
  2. to bring out the best of / in
Mi hermana saca lo mejor de mí. ― My sister brings out the best in me.

Usage notes

If mejor is used as an attributive adjective (as opposed to a substantive adjective), then obviously mejor would be preceded by "la" instead of "lo" if the modified noun is feminine.

Example:

  • El granjero quiere sacar la mejor calidad de la semilla que es posible.
    • The farmer wants to bring the best quality out of the seed that is possible.
