Etymology

From Old Turkic siŋ- ("to be absorbed, digested, to penetrate"). Apparently the verb was blended with Old Turkic süŋ- ("to hide, sink")[1].

  1. (intransitive) to crouch down (in order not to be seen)
  2. (intransitive) to pervade, penetrate, or permeate deeply
