Etymology
From Proto-Celtic *tanxtyos, from Proto-Indo-European *tenk- (“to be solid, firm”); cognate with Welsh teithi (“proper characteristics, proper duties”).[1] Closely related to Proto-Celtic *tankos (“peace”).
