- tiesef (dated)
Etymology
It seems that the form is a metathesis of the above variant and that this latter is in turn a backformation from the mediopassive ttiefes, ttiesef. This may then continue Arabic تَأَسَّفَ (taʔassafa, “to be grieved”, also of a limb: “to be hurt or disfigured”). (This etymology is missing or incomplete. Please add to it, or discuss it at the Etymology scriptorium.)
