Cognate with Old Frisian wega, Old Saxon wegan, Dutch wegen, Old High German wegan (German bewegen), Old Norse vega (Swedish väga), Gothic 𐌲𐌰𐍅𐌹𐌲𐌰𐌽 (gawigan). The Proto-Indo-European root is also the source of Ancient Greek ϝοχος (wokhos), ὄχος (ókhos, “vehicle”), Latin vehō (“carry”).
