лъагъуэ

Kabardian

Etymology

Probably formed as лъэ (lˢe, foot) + *гъуэ (*ğʷe, road), the latter found inside гъуэ-гу (ğʷe-gʷu). Cognate with Adyghe лъагъо (lˢaağʷo).

Abkhaz а-ҭлаҩа, Abaza тлагӏва (tˡaʻʷa) are Circassian borrowings. The Abkhaz alago (footpath), found only in Erckert,[1] is likewise considered a Circassian borrowing.[2]

The nature of relationship with Old Georgian ალაგი (alagi, trail, road, way) is uncertain.
