Etymology

From *tik(k)ä (steep(ly), vertical(ly)), an adverbial form derived from Proto-Turkic *dik- (to plant vertically).[1]

Cognate with Kazakh тіке (tıke, steep, vertical), Kyrgyz тике (tike, steeply, vertically), Uzbek tikka (steep, vertical), Uyghur تىككە (tikke, vertical).
