From Classical Mongolian ᠶ᠋ᠣᠰᠤᠲᠠᠢ (yosutai̯), from Middle Mongol [Term?] (feminine); equivalent to ёс (jos) + -той (-toj, ornative suffix). Cognate with Buryat ёһотой (johotoj), Kalmyk йоста (yosta), etc.
