An Iranian borrowing: compare Middle Persian [Book Pahlavi needed] (kwtk' /kōdak/, young, small; baby), Persian کودک (kudak, child), and see the latter for more.

Related to Old Armenian կոտիկ (kotik, young of an animal), also from Iranian.
