Etymology
An Iranian borrowing: compare Middle Persian [Book Pahlavi needed] (cmbl /čambar/), Persian چنبر (čanbar, “circle, hoop”). Related to dialectal ճամբարակ (čambarak). For the "circle" → "group of soldiers" sense development compare գումարտակ (gumartak), պար (par), طوپ (top).
