Etymology

The root is պակ- (pak-) + -ն- (-n-) and is the same with the root պախ- (pax-) of պախիմ (paxim).

Verb

պակնում (paknum)  (aorist indicative պակեայ)

  1. (intransitive) to be frightened, appalled, terrified, dismayed, palsied or stupefied with fear, to be struck with terror; to feel giddy, dizzy or stupefied with fear
  2. (intransitive) to shudder, to tremble
  3. (intransitive) to be amazed, surprised, petrified with astonishment
