קרתא

Highly irregular noun: the plural inserts a /w/ in the stem, and gets the masculine suffix (although it retains feminine agreement). Sometimes the form קַרתָּא is also used as the absolute form. Cognate with Arabic قَرْيَة‎ (qarya, “city, town”) and with Hebrew קִרְיָה‎ (“city, town”). Compare with Phoenician 𐤒𐤓𐤕‎ (qrt, “city”).
