سَيَال or سِيَال (sayāl or siyāl) m (collective, singulative سَيَالَة f (sayāla) or سِيَالَة f (siyāla))

  1. spp. of milk-vetch or a legume that lets a milky substance flow when plucked, usually of Acacieae tribe
    • وَذي أُشُرٍ تَشوقُهُ وَتَشوصُ
      مَنابِتُهُ مِثلُ السُدوسِ وَلَونُهُ
      كَشَوكِ السِيالِ فَهوَ عَذبٌ يَفيصُ
      And these between-times thrutch him to and fro and rapture,
      its plantings equalling woad and the colour it passes,
      like milk-vetch, it’s a thing with but a sweetness that lapses.
