Etymology

Inherited from Proto-Turkic *tarġak (comb) and thus related to طرامق (taramak, to comb); cognate with Azerbaijani daraq, Bashkir тараҡ (taraq), Kazakh тарақ (taraq), Kyrgyz тарак (tarak), Turkmen darak, Uyghur تاغاق (taghaq) and Uzbek taroq.
