From Middle Persian [Book Pahlavi needed] (m(y)znydy /miznē/), [Book Pahlavi needed] (mwznydyy /muznē/, “cloud, mist”), from Proto-Iranian *miznya-, *mizniya-, derivative to the term continued as Persian مه (meh, “fog”). Akin to Arabic مُزْنَة (muzna), an Iranian borrowing.
