From Avestan 𐬞𐬀𐬱𐬨𐬀𐬥 (pašman)[1][2] from Proto-Iranian *pášma, Proto-Indo-Iranian *páćšma, ultimately from Proto-Indo-European *peḱ- (wool, to pluck wool).[3]
