Learned borrowing from Classical Syriac ܬܠܬܥܣܪܐ (təlāṯaʿesrē). Equivalent to ܬܠܵܬ (tlāt, “three”) + ܥܸܣܲܪ (ʿissar, “ten”); compare Arabic ثَلَاثَ عَشْرَةَ (ṯalāṯa ʕašrata) and Hebrew שְׁלוֹשׁ עֶשְׂרֵה (sh'lósh 'esré).
