Inherited from Sanskrit पुरा (purā, “before, formerly”). Cognate to Sinhalese පෙර (pera) and Hindi पुराब (purāb). Doublet of ފޫރުއްބަ‎ (fūrubba), ޕޫރުބެ‎ (pūrube), and ޕުރެ‎ (pure)
