From धाड (dhāḍ), from Old Marathi धाड (dhāḍa), धाडा (dhāḍā), धाडी (dhāḍī)[1], from Maharastri Prakrit 𑀥𑀸𑀟𑀻 (dhāḍī), from Sanskrit धाटी (dhāṭī, “assault”)[2].
