Inherited from Old Marathi 𑘪𑘲𑘜 (vīṇa), 𑘪𑘲𑘡 (vīna), from Maharastri Prakrit 𑀯𑀺𑀡𑀸 (viṇā), from Sanskrit विना (vínā). Doublet of विना (vinā). Cognate with Hindustani بِنَا / बिना (binā), Kachchi વિણ- (viṇa-), Mewari वना (vanā), Punjabi ਬਿਨ (bin) / بِن (bin).
