Etymology
Inherited from Proto-Indo-European *weng- (“to bow, bend”). Cognate with Proto-Germanic *wankijaną, *wenk (“to wink, nod”) (whence English wink), Lithuanian vìngis (“bow, crooking”), véngti (“to swerve, avoid”) and Albanian vang (“tire, felloe”). Doublet of वङ्क (vaṅka, “crooked”).
