Etymology
From 三 (sān) "three" and 七 (qī) "seven," because of the plant's tendency to grow three petioles with seven leaflets each. It is also traditionally grown in 3 parts sunlight and 7 parts shade, and harvested 3 to 7 years after maturity, but these are likely traditions based on the name.[1]
