Etymology
From Proto-Sino-Tibetan *k-rak (“chicken, fowl”)[1]. Cognate with Burmese ကြက် (krak), with the prefix dropped. Also cognate with Sichuan Yi ꃬ (va), Lisu ꓭ (ɣɑ), Horpa ɣra, and likely Tangut 𗡗 (*ꞏja̱r², “chicken”). Compare Lhao Vo qo,, Zaiwa woq and Longchuan Achang kʐuaʔ⁵⁵.
