From the Mediaeval Byzantine Greek ἀπόκρισις (apókrisis, answer), from the ancient Ancient Greek ἀπόκρισις (apókrisis, decision, answer). Synchronically analysable as απο- (apo-, from) + κρίση (krísi, judgement, decision).[1]

For the medical sense[2], Katharevousa ἀπόκρισις (apókrisis) from the ancient sense "excretion or secretion, separation"
