στείχω

Ancient Greek

Etymology

From Proto-Indo-European *steygʰ- (go (in an orderly way), climb). Cognates include Proto-Germanic *stīganą (ascend, climb up) (> German steigen). For o-grade *stóygʰ-, see στοῖχος (stoîkhos, row); for zero-grade *stigʰ-, see στίχος (stíkhos, row of soldiers; verse).[1]
